의성군은 마늘 주산지로서 매년 지역 농·특산물과 연계한 관광 축제를 운영해 왔으며, 2026년 10월 3일부터 5일까지 의성읍 일원에서 ‘의성 슈퍼푸드 마늘 축제 & 스카이 디렌스 런 in 의성’ 행사가 개최된다. 이번 축제는 의성마늘을 중심으로 한 식품·농업 체험과 지역 야외 행사를 결합해 방문객 유입과 지역 홍보를 동시에 도모하는 구성으로 진행된다. 주요 운영 요소로는 마늘 관련 전시·시식·홍보 부스, 지역 식문화와 농업을 주제로 한 체험 프로그램, 그리고 축제 현장과 연계한 마라톤형 러닝 이벤트인 스카이 디렌스 런이 포함된다. 행사 장소는 의성읍 남대천 구봉공원 일대와 주변 행사 공간이 활용된다. 따라서 해당 축제는 의성마늘의 지역 브랜드 가치를 알리고, 단순 관람형 행사를 넘어 체험·참여형 프로그램을 통해 관광객의 체류와 이동을 유도하려는 목적에서 기획된 지역 축제이다.
