온 가족 책 잔치는 2013년부터 매년 가을 정독도서관에서 열려온 서울시교육청 대표 독서문화 축제이다. 책을 매개로 가족과 이웃이 함께 어울리며 소통할 수 있는 장을 마련하고, 다양한 체험과 공연, 전시를 통해 독서의 즐거움과 가치를 일상 속에서 경험하도록 기획되었다. 특히 도서관·평생학습관, 지역 서점, 학교 독서동아리 등 다양한 기관이 힘을 모아 시민과 학생들이 직접 참여하는 프로그램을 운영함으로써 협력형 축제로 발전하였다. 책 읽는 온 가족 시상식, 문화 공연, 책과 연계된 창의 체험 활동, 친환경·전통문화 체험 등 다채로운 프로그램이 마련되어 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있으며, 독서가 단순한 활동을 넘어 생활의 기쁨과 공동체의 가치를 느끼는 계기를 제공하는 의미 있는 행사이다.
