김포 해병대 문화축제 in 대명항은 해병대 제2사단 주둔지라는 지역적 특성을 살려 해병대의 강인한 정신과 전통을 기리는 축제이다. 해병대 장비 전시와 군악대·의장대 공연을 비롯해 강철근육 선발대회, 군번줄·팔각모 만들기 등 다양한 프로그램이 펼쳐지며, 시민들이 해병대 문화를 직접 보고 느끼며 소통할 수 있는 자리가 마련된다. 또한 수산물직판장 옥상 광장에서는 제철 수산물과 로컬푸드, 셀프 바비큐 등 김포의 먹거리를 즐길 수 있는 '선셋야장'이 함께 운영된다. 해 질 무렵 대명항의 노을을 배경으로 야시장 분위기의 먹거리장터와 버스킹이 이어진다. 낮에는 해병대 문화를, 밤에는 노을과 먹거리를 즐기는 두 가지 테마의 축제를 한 공간에서 모두 만날 수 있는 특별한 시간이다.
