10월 2일(금) 부터 4일(일) 까지 3일간 문경시 가은읍 일원에서 '가은아자개 장터축제'가 개최된다. 가은아자개장터의 정겨운 장터 분위기를 바탕으로 먹거리와 체험, 공연, 전시를 한자리에서 즐길 수 있는 세대 공감형 축제로 전야제인 10월 2일(금)에는 '미스트롯4 갈라쇼'가 펼쳐지며 10월 3일(토)에는 8090세대 시대를 대표하는 가수들이 출연해 '타임캡슐 콘서트'가 펼쳐진다. 마지막 날인 10월 4일(일)에는 어린이와 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 '어린이 빅쇼'가 펼쳐지며 온 가족이 함께 즐길 수 있는 시간으로 채운다. 특히 이번 축제에는 지역경제 활성화를 위해 주변 상권을 연계한 영수증 이벤트를 통해 유명 쉐프의 문경약돌돼지를 활용한 메뉴시식를 체험할 수 있다. 또한 우리나라 석탄산업의 큰 축을 담당했던 가은의 탄광 역사를 되돌아보는 '가은 탄광역사 사진전'도 함께 마련되어 과거 광부들의 작업 모습과 탄광촌의 생활상을 담은 사진을 통해 대한민국 산업화와 경제 성장을 뒷받침했던 중요한 역사를 생생하게 느껴볼 수 있다.
