군산짬뽕페스티벌은 군산의 대표 음식인 짬뽕을 활용한 대표 미식 축제로 바다의 신선한 해산물과 풍부한 지역 농산물이 가득 담긴 군산짬뽕의 맛을 즐길 수 있는 축제이다. 군산짬뽕은 1970년대 초까지 화교들이 돼지·소·닭 뼈 육수로 만들던 ‘초마면’이라는 음식에 항구도시 특유의 신선한 해산물과 한국인의 입맛에 맞는 얼큰한 고춧가루가 더해지면서 오늘날 우리가 즐기는 짬뽕이 되었다. 행사장에는 중식 부스, 먹거리 부스뿐만 아니라 짬뽕을 주제로 한 다양한 체험 프로그램, 다채로운 무대 공연까지 준비되어 있어 방문객들에게 특별한 맛과 즐거움을 선사할 예정이다.
